The Mergelland route is a tourist route mapped out by the ANWB and runs through one of the hillyest parts of the Netherlands, namely South Limburg. This route is a popular and often driven route through the Limburg hills with a length of 110 km.

Bjorn Schrijnemeeckers, member of the Zero Motorcycles Owners Benelux had this great idea to use the Mergelland route for a road trip on Sunday 29 September. He was assisted in this by Porsche Centrum Maastricht. They arranged the coffee with Limburg pie in the morning. And electricity of course … many of these riders were already on their way for a while. +/- 20 electric motorcyclists showed up in rainy conditions.

Breakfast !!

Gert-Jan Rongen from Electric Motorbikes suggested me to do the ride with the new Zero SR/F (I am going to do a 3-day test drive through the Vosges with Andrew Thijssen very soon, thx to Zero Motorcycles Benelux, by the way). We are going to find out if you can easily make a road trip with the Zero SR/F concerning charging, range, sitting position etc.

EMN’s first impression: rainy conditions, a bunch of leaves and little branches on the road … not the ideal circumstances to experiment with the full power of the SR/F. I started in “Rain”-modus and the motorcycle acted very smooth, no surprises, no power out-bursts, very polite in fact. I had a safe feeling, even I never rode it before. Later on the day, weather conditions became better and I had to try the “street”-modus. Whouaa! What’s that, big smile … what an acceleration. This was street-modus, imagine how the “sport”-modus reacts … but that’s for our next road trip at The Vosges.
