First things first. This is an electric moped with an equivalent of a traditional 50 cc and NO motorcycle. It sure has the looks of a motorbike but this model is limited at 45 km/h.

We are in Antwerp at the office of the Benelux importer and we started with coffee and chocolates, we are after all in Belgium, remember? Michel Rombouts (Managing Director from Queengarden) apologized for the fact that he just had one test bike for us. Turned out he had a dealer meeting earlier that week and everybody wanted a demo model, even the petrol heads. That’s quit an introduction for a new model in the 50cc vehicle class.

Perhaps “moped” is not the right word for this piece of tech … When I first lay my eyes on it, I was charmed by it’s completeness. The angular LED headlamp is an eye-catcher and you feel instinctively that the designers did a good job. The lines are perfect and the colour scheme is stylish. You have a choice between adrenaline orange, race red, frost silver to snow white … (and the obligatory black of course).

This bike screams future – it even has a little jingle when you start it up with the large push button (the key is in your pocket). A large, illuminated display shows you all the information you need to know. No clutch, no gears, just twist the throttle and off you go. There are 3 driving modes (Eco, Normal & Sport). I played with the Sport modus (my weight is 80 kg) and it accelerated very smoothly; I can imagine that sixteen year old people could have great fun with the Super Soco.

One of the advantages is its weight. It only weighs about 78 kg (battery included), so at low speed you can handle the bike quit well and you can even pick it up when necessary. And if you want to drink a coffee in the city, you can engage the anti-theft alarm which will sound when it detects if somebody moves your bike. Automatically, system-says-no and your rear wheel has been blocked. Another practical thing are the adjustable foot pedals to fit your personal needs.

Not only the youngsters will appreciate this new electric vehicle but commuters as well. The removable battery (10 kg) can be charged at your office (ask your boss!) or at home with a standard power chord. There is room for a second battery (option!) and with one battery you have a realistic range of +/- 65 km in Eco driving modus.

Oh yes, and it’s completely silent! The electric engine (developed by BOSCH) is fitted inside the rear wheel. And with only two skinny tyres, even the road noice on the asphalt road is reduced to zero.

The Super Soco is not build for long travel trips to the South of France but it’s great for city transport and easy to ride for all kind of people. It’s a perfect startup bike for young people who haven’t much experience with motor driving and speed in general. Because the bike is so easy to handle, you can keep up your eyes on the road and that’s safer for everybody.

Super Soco TS

There is a second model the Super Soco TS which is more retro with a rounded headlight and retro dashboard, a brown leather saddle, squared indicators and led backlight.
